Lucknow: The 22nd National Book Fair is set to open on September 4, 2025, at Balrampur Garden, Ashok Marg, Lucknow, and will run until September 14, 2025. The 11-day literary and cultural festival will be inaugurated by Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, at 5:00 PM on the opening day.
This year, the fair is dedicated to the inspiring theme ‘Vision 2047: Viksit Bharat, Viksit Pradesh’, aligning with the nation’s roadmap towards a developed India by 2047. The organizers said the theme serves as a motivational call for youth to contribute to the country’s progress through knowledge and literature.

A Grand Literary Showcase
Spread over 75,000 square feet, the book fair will feature over 120 stalls from more than 50 renowned publishers, offering thousands of titles in Hindi, English, and regional languages. The collection will include literature, academic books, children’s literature, and rare works, appealing to readers of all ages.
A highlight this year is the Book2Screen Club, a unique initiative that celebrates authors, their imagination, and the cinematic adaptations of classic works.
Events and Attractions
The fair will not only provide access to books but also host a wide range of literary and cultural activities, including:
- Author sessions and panel discussions with established and emerging writers.
- Kavi Sammelan (poetry gatherings), Mushaira (Urdu poetic recitals), and book launches.
- A Children’s Corner, featuring storytelling sessions and competitions.
- A special youth section designed to inspire younger generations.
- A minimum 10% discount on every book purchased at the fair.
The fair will run daily from 11 AM to 9 PM. Entry is free for all visitors, making it an annual attraction for book lovers who return year after year.
Organizers Speak
Aakarsh Chandel, Director of the Fair, said: “The theme ‘Vision 2047’ is a call to action for the youth. We want to inspire them to contribute to nation-building through knowledge and literature.”

Manoj Singh Chandel, Convener of the Fair, added: “This is not just a book fair; it is a celebration of knowledge and culture. We are bringing together diverse publications to meet the interests of every reader. We urge everyone to be part of this enriching experience.”
Also present, T.P. Havelia highlighted the fair’s growing importance, noting that it has become one of the most prestigious literary events in Northern India, aimed at promoting a reading culture while giving publishers and authors a vital platform. The others on the dias included UP Tripathi from Vishwam Foundation and Vishal Srivastava from Kiran Foundation.

Over 60 participants will exhibit at the fair, including leading names like Rajkamal Prakashan, Vani Prakashan, Bharatiya Jnanpith, Prabhat Prakashan, Rajpal & Sons, Geeta Press Gorakhpur, and several local publishers and organizations from Lucknow and other cities.
